Question : Does Dr. Yarrington do augmentation or reduction surgery on the breast?
Answer : No. Dr. Yarrington is a well trained, Board Certified General Surgeon with many years of experience in treatment of breast disease. His focus is,appropriately, on treatment of benign and malignant conditions and he goes to great lengths to provide patients with a cosmetic result after surgery that will be satisfying to the individual. When the services of a Plastic Surgeon are appropriate, he will be happy to provide you with a referral. |
Question : Does Dr. Yarrington do other types of surgery besides breast?
Answer : Yes. While much of the other surgery provided through the Center frequently relates to the patient with breast disease (ie. lymph node biopsy, venous port placemnet, excision of skin lesions, colonoscopy, etc.),he will also see patients who are candidates for "truly out patient" hernia surgery. Should you have questions in this regard, please do not hesitate to ask us. |
Question : Does Dr. Yarrington do steriotactic breast biopsy and ,if so,what are the advantages of this type of procedure?
Answer : Yes. The doctor has long been trained in this procedure and recently has been instumental in insuring that vacuum assisted core biopsy and steriotactic breast imaging remain an option for the patients in our three county area by helping to establish the new steriotactic biopsy Unit at the Bayonet Point Sugery and Endoscopy Center in Hudson, Florida. For those patients who are felt to be candidates for this technique, the advantage is that provided by a computer directed "on target" placement of a large bore single pass suction assisted biopsy needle through usually no more than a four millimeter incision. All this is usually done under local anesthesia, so the patient can drive herself to and from the imaging center for the biopsy. |
Question : What's new regarding options for breast biopsy at the Center for Breast Care?
Answer : The Center now offers the Sono Site Micro Maxx ultrasound system to assist the doctor in obtaining in-depth evaluation of breast structure and help pinpoint tumors. The Micro Maxx weighs only 7 pounds and can be taken by the doctor into the operating room to allow him to better locate and define the margins of any ultrasound visible tumor while the surgery is actually taking place. This device can be used in combination with the Vacora suction assisted core biopsy device to provide an excellent tissue sampling through a tiny incision, all as an office procedure. What's more, this is usually done under local anesthesia. Be sure to ask about this option when you meet with the doctor or his assistants. |
