surgical procedures
We focus on the evaluation
and treatment of conditions of both the female and male breast.
At the Center for Breast Care, we will provide for all that is part
of the modern evaluation of the breast, including in-office selective
ultrasound imaging and - if appropriate - ultrasound directed aspiration
and biopsy procedures.
We proudly offer the Vacora biopsy system, which is the worlds smallest self-contained suction core biopsy system. This amazing device weighs less than 1 pound and is held in the surgeons hand as it is guided to the targeted area within the breast by a state-of-the-art ultrasound, the Sono Site Micro Maxx. This allows many patients with ultrasound visible lesions the option of having a diagnostic biopsy done under local anesthesia right at the Center for Breast Care.
Appropriate surgical procedures as indicated will usually be conducted
at the outpatient centers on a "same day surgical" basis.
These may include: needle directed excisional, open excisional,
or stereotactic “core" (i.e. mammotome) biopsy.
More in-depth treatment may require breast sparing "lumpectomy"
or rarely - mastectomy for treatment of malignancy.

 |
These
may be combined with lymph node biopsy, dissection or sentinel
node biopsy as appropriate to the patient condition. With
any treatment, we work closely with our skilled area oncologists
so that your care is always |
complete and optimally designed to offer
you the best of outcomes.
Other surgery offered by the
center includes excision of skin and soft tissue lesions, cyst excisions
or drainage and biopsy or excision of non breast
related lymph node conditions. Patients with inguinal, and abdominal
or umbilical hernias which can truly be managed as an "outpatient"
(i.e. not requiring more than a 23 hour observation postoperatively)
can also be managed through the Center. We also offer colonoscopy
with or without polypectomy. |
 |
Also
offered are placement of venous access, both
percutaneous catheters and implanted ports.
Should you have questions about the procedures available at the
Center for Breast Care, please feel free to ask one of our trained
health care professionals. We will be happy to assist you.
